
Overview:
The Township Clerk keeps the township’s records organized, runs all local elections, handles important financial paperwork, and helps residents get the information they need. The Clerk also serves on the Township Board and helps make decisions that guide the community.
Key Responsibilities:
- Recordkeeping
- Maintains all official township documents, including meeting minutes, ordinances, resolutions, and contracts
- Prepares and posts meeting agendas and keeps accurate minutes for Township Board meetings
- Elections
- Oversees all township elections, including voter registration, absentee ballots, poll worker coordination, and compliance with state election laws.
- Ensures elections are fair, accurate, and properly documented
- Financial Administration
- Manages certain financial duties such as accounts payable, keeping financial records, and maintaining the township’s general ledger
- Public Contact & Customer Service
- Serves as a primary contact for residents seeking information about meetings, records, permits, or election-related questions
- Helps create a welcoming and transparent environment for the public
- Township Board Member
- Votes on township matters such as budgets, policies, zoning, and appointments, just like other board members
