Michigan makes voting easy and secure. You can vote early, vote absentee, or vote on Election Day. Local clerks — including your township clerk — run elections, maintain voter records, and ensure every vote is counted accurately.

Voter Registration:

  • Michigan residents can register online, by mail, or in person at their local clerk’s office
  • Same‑day registration is available during the 14 days leading up to Election Day
  • Voters must be U.S. citizens, Michigan residents, and at least 18 years old

Ways to Vote: (Michigan offers several convenient voting options)

  • Early Voting
    • Michigan now provides early in‑person voting before statewide and federal elections
    • Early voting locations are open for multiple days, giving voters flexibility
  • Absentee Voting
    • Any voter can request an absentee ballot — no reason required
    • Ballots can be returned by mail, in person, or via secure drop boxes available for at least 40 days before Election Day
  • Election Day Voting
    • Polls are open statewide on Election Day
    • Voters can cast a ballot at their assigned precinct
