
Overview:
The Township Treasurer collects and manages township money, keeps accurate financial records, oversees tax collection, and helps guide financial decisions as a member of the Township Board.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collecting & Receiving Money
- Receives all funds that belong to the township or are required by law to be paid into the township treasury
- Handles property tax collection, including summer and winter taxes
- Processes payments for permits, fees, and other township revenues
- Managing Township Funds
- Deposits all township money promptly into approved financial institutions
- Maintains accurate accounting records for each township fund
- Ensures compliance with state‑required accounting standards and reporting practices
- Financial Oversight
- Tracks revenue and expenditures and reports fund balances to the Township Board
- Alerts the Board if any fund is overdrawn or at risk of becoming overdrawn
- Manages investments of township funds using lawful investment options
- Tax Roll & Settlement
- Works with the County Treasurer to reconcile and settle the tax roll at the end of each tax cycle
- Maintains accurate records of delinquent taxes and payments
- Township Board Member
- Participates in township decision‑making, including budgets, policies, and financial planning.

Property Tax Information:
Tax payments after March 1st can no longer be accepted by the Township Treasurer, but must be paid, with penalty to the Saginaw County Treasurer’s Office, Governmental Center, 111 S. Michigan Avenue, Saginaw, Michigan 48602, 989-790-5225.
